PROUD OF OUR EXPERIENCE
AND OUR STAFF

DJ Entertainment has performed at thousands of wedding receptions in the Hudson Valley (more than any other disc jockey service). We have brought the joy and excitement of music and entertainment to countless numbers of Bar and Bat-Mitzvahs, and other special events and celebrations. Based in Poughkeepsie, in upstate New York's beautiful Hudson Valley, we cover and serve the tri-state area. We provide a Master of Ceremonies and a Disc Jockey for every reception or party. Party motivators and additional entertainers are available.

Jon Pickles lives in Millbrook with his wife and baby daughter. He is the newest member of DJ Entertainment. His personality and love of music makes him a very welcome addition. He is a musician, and can create a great party atmosphere for any event. He has participated in wedding and party venues, joining Cameron, the new owner of DJ Entertainment, as MC.

Jim Erickson lives in Hyde Park with his wife and two children and has been with DJ Entertainment since 1989, with the exception of four years while he lived in Hawaii. Jim looks forward to each and every party, each and every wedding reception, and loves what he does. He's got a great love of music, and really enjoys the challenge of tailoring DJ Entertainment's services to each individual party. At the end of the evening, he takes great pleasure in saying "Mission accomplished!"

MAKING THE RIGHT CHOICE . . . a DJ SERVICE or a BAND

  • The single-most reason couples choose a DJ over a band is that they want to hear the music the way it was recorded by the original artist. Bands simply cannot duplicate CD recordings. Bands featuring a male lead singer cannot perform a song by Madonna or by Whitney Houston and sound like the original artists. The same holds true of band with a female lead singer (forget about hearing Frank Sinatra!)

  • All too often, the band you book today, for your reception next year, may not consist of the same band members when your big day arrives.

  • Momentum . . . continuous music is what people want and what makes for a great party. During band breaks, there is a dramatic drop in energy, and dance flow and momentum are interrupted. We commit to and provide continuous music!

  • Unfortunately, many catering facilities have inadequate space reserved for the entertainment. While they may be able to accommodate a band or orchestra, the group may take up a large part of the dance floor. A DJ can adjust more easily to a limited space.

  • Volume control and modulation is an important issue in the quality of the music being played. Bands generally have five or six musicians who each have independent volumes for their instruments. Add to that three or four singers who "generate" another three or four volumes. The job of regulating eight or ten separate volumes is much more difficult than controlling just one, that of the DJ!

  • Last, but not least is the cost factor. In most cases, the services of a professional DJ will be substantially less than that of a band. Also bear in mind that you will in all likelihood be paying for the dinners of all the band members. That too will create an additional expense.
